They ended as all wars do!. In a massive amount of human deaths and suffering - and in agreements or conclusions which could have been reached without it all, if mutual care and intelligence was used instead!. The war in Viet Nam was a local combined war for (a) independence (against the French) and (b) civil war between Communists and the mostly urban Vietnamese who profited from French occupation!. A "civil" war is between different groups of the same national society (like the war between Northern and Southern slave States in USA)!. The rural Vietnamese society was traditionally "communist" with participatory Village councils etc for centuries; whereas the European model of "democracy" is different (i!.e!. majority rule rather than consensus)!. The Communists were therefor able to recruit volunteers for a determined guerilla war against the US and others resolved to impose their own will for a "Western" style government to block further Communist advances!. So after long heavy losses, US citizenry withdrew support, and the US Government retired badly hurt!. WW1!. was launched by Germany in a bid for territory, opposed by Britain and other European nations threatened!. WW2 was launched by Nazi Germany partly as a result of the crushing reparations imposed on it in compensation for WW1, and for territory!. Both could have been prevented by early external intervention (such as US)!. WW2 ended when Germany attacked Russia at great losses in the winter - and the Allied Nations were then able to defeat Germany!. This led to an agreement which helped Germany rebuild its economy instead of paying compensation!. The same happened with the war on Japan!. By the war in China, I presume you mean the Communist revolution (look up The Great March on Wikipedia)!. This ended the existing central Government (which fled to Taiwan), and established Communist rule!. I don't think this war could have been "negotiated"!. It was a basic conflict of ideas and opposed self-interests!. But it still could have been avoided with better and more intelligent government!. When one group insists on its own interests at whatever expense to others, eventually everyone loses!. I used to wonder what would happen if "they" had a war and nobody (on either side) came! But people are too easily led!. Acting collectively has been a great strength for the survival of our species - and is also a terrible danger!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

WWII ended in europe when Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945 with the United States pounding one side of Berlin while the Soviets pounded the other side!. The German surrender was negotiated and signed on May 7, 1945!.

The Vietnam War ended on April 30, 1975 when the North Vietnamese, in violation of the peace treaty they signed overran Saigon and South Vietnam after the United States had pulled it's troops out because of pressure back home!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, one side surrenders & then a peace treaty is drawn up & signed by all parties!. (<-- that's how wars have ended & do end)

a civil war: the 2 sides are different factions from the same nation fighting each other, usually without external aid or interference!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

WW1 Germany lost, both Vietnam and China not in it!.

WW2 Germany lost!. China won and Vietnam sort of won, but the French came back and took them over until 1954!.

A nation at war with itself is a civil war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both parties stopped shooting!.
Peace!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
