Question: History: do you feel that the Age of Jackson was the Age of the Common Man!? and Why!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!. Jackson was the son of immigrants and grew up very poor on the frontier!. In keeping this answer brief, I'll leave out the details, but he was not a wealthy man, like previous presidents had been!. His inaugural ball was a drinking party!. He became president because of his success as a military man in the War of 1812!. He was the Father of American Democracy!. Previous to Jackson, the country was a republic with political hope only for the wealthy!. Jackson came from a poor background and gave a bit of power back to the common man once he was in the White House!. He also dueled and carried a bullet an inch from his heart while president!. He lost his wife while on the campaign trail and never remarried!. He was an average man that became great through hard work, so he gave hope to average men!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Age of Jackson was a contradiction in its relation with the common man

On the Plus Side:

Jackson was elected by a coalition of southern and middle-state voters that crystallized into the Democratic Party!.

He democratized American politics by running a new type of political campaign that reached out directly to the American voters!.

On the Minus Side:

He tried to overturn the will of Congress, the most democratically elected branch of the government!.

He removed Indians from their homelands!.

Yes is was!. First off Jackson was a common man himself, and he liked to help other common men too!. To start off his at his inaguration he invited everyone to come in to the white house!. This ended in chaos and many things being broken and stolen!. He also hated the national bank because it aided the rich!. Jackson got rid of that to give an advantage to the poorer people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
