Position:Home>History> Why would the south 'rise again'?Question: Why would the south 'rise again'!? Either I'm a bad southern girl or I see no sense in this whole 'The South will rise again!' deal!. Why do people still fly the flag of a nation that died over 100 years ago!? I don't see a reason to be proud of what happened during the civil war, or why it even got started!. I don't mean to be a troll, I just want to know why the south is going to rise again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In which case, shoot them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I think you need more of a history lesson and more exposure to southern culture!.!.!.or you can move and go on about your life pretending that you were never from the South which is easier for some people!. "The South will rise again" is just a phrase and in all actuality the South is rising again as we speak, the South has the strongest economy in the nation at the given moment, the most growth, expansion, and that's something to be proud of!. The flag has more to do than just the Civil War - it's about heritage!. My ancestors fought in the Civil War and if you'll learn about groups like the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Daughters of the Confederacy you could grasp some of that heritage!. However, if you're going to listen to the people on here (that I combat with all my might) who tell you that we (southern people) are dumb, ignorant, redneck hicks who can't pour piss out of a boot with directions written on the side then you might as well move away!.!.!. Being southern is something to be proud of!.!.!. We have morals, we have ethics, we have class, we have respect!.!.!. and that is a lot more than most people from other regions can say!.Www@QuestionHome@Com The fact that you think history is boring pretty much sums it up!. You're basically ignorant of your own history and too lazy to even read it!. You just accept the homogenized fairy tales they teach you in public schools that the war was about "freeing the slaves" and you swallow it!. Most of your teachers couldn't explain what a tariff was, or how economic imbalances inevitably led to war, so they don't know any better than to parrot the nonsense they read in the teacher's workbook!. If you really want to know what it was all about, go to the library and actually read some books by historians !.!.!. and not just Northern ones, either!. You might actually learn something !.!.!. but you probably are too lazy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com history is written by the winners!. the north must claim moral superiority to justify war, domination and controlling other people!. no southerner would have said they fight for slavery during the civil war!. just as no iraqi would fight against american because they love saddam and yellow cake!. these are your concerns not thiers!. they fight for thier homes, for thier lives or because there was a sexy girl on a recruitment poster, they were promised some beer and to get paid or they thought it was noble to take up guns and march out like knights of old thyme stories!. they thought it was cool, saw it in a movie or want to impress mom!. sane people do not take up guns and go kill each other!. just look at the commercials, what are they trying to sell you!? they show family and how people will like and respect you and so on!. the south fought for states rights or so thier rhetoric and politicians told them!. at the time the states were a loose group of individual nations or "states" we are one of few if not the only one who calls our seperate territories states!. usually a nation is a state itself divided into provinces counties and towns!. one day the UN will find reason and opportunity to consolidate power!. You will have to make a choice!. Do you support the united power of one UN with a powerful world govt who makes the laws or do you want various countries to remain independent!? it is the question the south was deciding!. no one marched out because they wanted to keep slaves in fact most in the army and poor and they "just work here" they don't own slaves and would never afford one!. this would certainly not motivate anyone to do anything!. after the civil war the federal govt gained many powers it did not previously have!. when they come for you they will have reason, we are all criminals and perverts as far as society teaches us!. this is done to retain the ability to pull anyone out at anytime!. you've sinned, you've got dirt on your hands, they can destroy you anytime they choose!. so what will they say when the UN claims america!? what will be our dirty deed they use against us!. will they say we are the murder and rape capital of the world!. we pollute the environment unrepentently, we execute and torture people, too many unpopular wars, bunch of drug addicts, abuse the poor and elderly!. the south does not stand for slavery anymore than Iraq stands for hating freedom fries!. this is just things bullies say to keep the crowd on thier side!. convince you you deserve it and justify thier use of wrong action!. sherman was a northern officer who killed civilians and didn't give a damn about slaves, he killed them himself because they slowed him down!. he thought they were cattle!.Www@QuestionHome@Com some people are still stuck in the past!.!.!. some people do it just because other people do it and still others are just plain ignorant i'm strait out of GA, but the civil war part of history is something i choose to forgetWww@QuestionHome@Com You don't want to be a good southern girl, there is no sense in it, damn some rednecks still believe in that, luckily your smart enough to see past it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com how in the world is the south going to rise again when the world is at it's state right now!. no one gives a damn about the civil war in this modern worldWww@QuestionHome@Com Given that we've only had two northern presidents since WWII, It seems to me the South did rise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Its heritage that makes us fly the flag!. As to "The South will rise again": The desire to support your home, and gain something better for her; that is the resurrection of the South!. To bring a new South up out of the ashes of destruction and despair into the sunlight of a new and prosperous day!. EDIT to all those people who threaten and slander the South: You talk of "arming Mexico" or say you'd destroy my nation!. Well, bring it on!. Try it and I'll die sooner than let you prevail!. I have often thought that it would be nice to build a fence around Texas and trail of tears every republican in the country there!. Then arm Mexico and gift Texas to them!. And more and more the part that seems fearful and ignorant!. There is a lot of bitterness over missed opportunities and being held back!.
