Gingers were the "devil's children" so right when they came out, they would be killed!. It still happens sometimes now-a-days!.

I have no idea what you are talking about!. There are plenty of ginger-hiared people around today, I am one for instance!.

And anyway, I doubt that many were killed in the past!. People who were executed as witches were normally convicted of having done some harm to their neighbours, by inflicting disease or some other kind of misfortune on them!. I don't know if ginger-haired people wre any more likely to be accused of witchcraft than other people, but anyway not sufficent numbers would have been killed to wipe them all out!. The total number of people executed for witchcraft between 1450-1750 (the main period of witch persecutions) is about 40,000!. Even if all of those had been redheads, it would hardly be enough to eliminate us completely!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In addition to the idea they were "the devils children" ,many mediterainian regions, such as parts of italy, have/had a beflief that judas was a red head,so redheads were considered pariahs and persecuted (its a cultural thing found in many countries conquered by the danes or that fought against them or the irish tribes) the bias was spread to dehumanise the enemy and as a result of making the redhair a sign of being sub human or unclean!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
