I'm with the others as to what exactly you are asking but!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Woolworth's was one of the original, if not THE original Five and Dime store!.
Meaning is was cheap, really, really cheap!.

The Woolworth stores of today were nothing like the original ones from 1879 to up until the 70's when I was a little girl going to Woolworth's with my mother!.

They sold discounted general merchandise at fixed prices, usually five or ten cents, undercutting the prices of other local merchants!.
Which means that they were still quite affordable even after the stock market crash and during the Depression!.

As a kid I remember that they sold everything from candy, to clothing, to personal care products, to costume jewelry, to over-the-counter medication, to cigarettes!.

The Woolworth brothers originally also entered into partnerships with “friendly rivals” to maximize inventory purchasing power for both parties!.

Meaning that they bought in bulk from suppliers along with another company and got their products cheaper that way!.

So you had several companies buying their stuff together, keeping prices down, keeping supplies on the shelves, therefore bringing in customers through the doors even during the great Depression!.

The stores eventually incorporated lunch counters inside the stores bringing in even more customers by offering inexpensive sandwiches for lunch over the more expensive restaurants in the downtown areas!.

They made some smart moves, operated on low budgets, kept their prices down and offered variety!.!.!.!.therefore they survived the Crash and the Depression well into the 1970's, and then into the furture by changing their product line and standard operating proceedures!.

Hoepfully this is what you were looking for!.
