Question: What is "In treue fest"!?

I have this old sword, probably but not sure made before WWII!. Near the handle it has a banner that says "In treue fest"!. What does this mean!? I looked up some stuff, and I got some stuff about Swedish and Bavarian cultures, but my dad thinks its German!. What is it reallly!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
