Position:Home>History> Do you believe Jack the Ripper was..?

Question: Do you believe Jack the Ripper was!.!.!?
I don′t believe it was Sir William Gull, there is NO evidence against him, and he was old man with stroke, for the love of Pete! It is complete rubbish!. And same thing with this Royal connection - no evidence, only entertainment value - and some schizophrenic/psychotic !.!.!. especially because his psychological profile does not mention ANYTHING about that disease!. According to earlier FBI profiler Gregg McCrary, he was working-class man with quiet, innocent facade, 30-37 years of age, and he had no helpers or partners of crime!. Dull, ain′t it!? But probably true!. Thoughts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I think it is easier to say who it probably wasn't;
Druitt - he played cricket near Bournemouth the day after the one of the murders!.
Gull - the stroke
The Royals - just daft
Sickert - no evidence - Patricia Cornwall is mistaken
Maybrick - probably a forgery
I like Tumblety as a suspect - but he was over 6 feet tall and had a massive moustache - surely he would stand out like a sore thumb!.

My favourite candidate is the Batty Street lodger!. This was a man who rented rooms less than two minutes away from the yard where one of the women was killed and whose shirt was covered in blood!. He disappeared after the Kelly murder - no name has every been given for him!.

Of course - it will never been known, unless a genuine document is discovered in someone's attic - and, I suspect that none of the current suspects are guilty!.

I think he was the American, Francis Tumblety!. Tumblety fit the profile of a serial killer, he was in London at the time of the murders, the murders stopped after he returned to New York City on November 24, he had a failed marriage to a prostitute, and supposedly had a hatred of women!. According to source, there is a strong case to be made that he was the Batty Street Lodger!.

I forgot to mention, Tumblety kept a collection of human uteri!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had never heard the William Gull theory before so I looked it up!. Sounds like a possibility to me!. What has always puzzled me is how come he stopped altogether when he was obviously a mental case!. In those days you were either rich or poor and poor didn't have access to help for their problem!. I think it was a wealthy person whose family had him put away and that's why the killings stopped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, my father watched a Jack the Ripper show on the History Channel, and they say they've found DNA on one of Jack's letters!. Apparently, it matches up with some artist fellow (who's name my father can't recall)!.

I don't think it was Gull, either, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want to read a decent Ripper historian's work I suggest Donald Rumbelow's book!. He's the foremost Ripper expert in England and does not pander to the Masonic/Royal Prince/Surgeon myth!.

I watched a doco 2 night ago that was saying they're pretty sure they know who it is now!. There was an american guy from new york who would travel from london to NY frequently!. There were apparently eye witnesses that said he was seen washing blood of his clothes in the early hours of the morning and every time he went back to NY they would stop, he comes back to london they start again!. In the doco they were saying they're about as close as their going to get and he is the most likely suspect!.!.!.can't remember his name!.
Oh about a month ago I was tracing some family tree and I found out that I'm a descendant of one of the suspects who has since been ruled out!.!.!.!.awesome!. Would have been awesome if it was him, good pick up line I reckonWww@QuestionHome@Com
