Question: For People Who Lived During The 1970's in America: Were people generally meaner during that decade!? !?
I've been watching a few movies from the 1970's from the begining of the decade to the late part of it, from dramas to horror films, and I've noticed that the characters in those movies seemed to be rude and act mean, especially the way men treated the women!.!. !.
Now, I know these may be exaggerations and overacting, but these films give the impression that people were not as polite to eachother back then!. Do they really represent the way people in society acted towards eachother during that time!?
Being that I was born in 1982 I have no recollection of the 70's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was definitely a chauvenistic attitude towards women in those days - as the movies indicated, they were generally kept in the background!. But people weren't meaner!. This was after the 'summer of love' - the Hippies and the Sixties and while things were a little more serious, they were not mean!.
If you're watching Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Bacall pictures - no one behaved like that off screen!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

not mean as much as self involved!. People were very hedonistic and did lots of drugs, wore horible clothes, danced to horrible music and had lots of unprotected sex!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
My son was also born in 1982 and he says he'd like to spend some time living in the 60's & 70's because most things looked less complicated and fun (way back then)!. The music was better than today's music in my opinion and much of it is still popular!. But to answer your question!.!.!.I don't think people were meaner in the 70's, I think they were much more polite then than they are today!. Again, in my opinion, men treat women much better today than back in the 70's! The reason being, my generation of boys were raised to be superior to the girls!. They were less sensitive and were taught to be macho!. My generation of women saw the light and raised their boys to treat females with respect and kindness and as equals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
