Question: Did Sarah Palin really think the TV was invented in Roosevelts time!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Well, it was invented during Roosevelt's lifetime, actually!. It simply didn't have commercial application back then!.

However, it was Joe Biden who thought Roosevelt went on TV to rally the masses--and he should know better!. That era was almost current events for him!

A brief history of the invention of TV:

Since Marconi’s invention of wireless telegraphy in 1897, the imagination of many inventors have been sparked with the notion of sending images as well as sound, wirelessly!. The first documented notion of sending components of pictures over a series of multiple circuits is credited to George Carey!. Another inventor, W!. E!. Sawyer, suggested the possibility of sending an image over a single wire by rapidly scanning parts of the picture in succession!.

On December 2, 1922, in Sorbonne, France, Edwin Belin, an Englishman, who held the patent for the transmission of photographs by wire as well as fiber optics and radar, demonstrated a mechanical scanning device that was an early precursor to modern television!. Belin’s machine took flashes of light and directed them at a selenium element connected to an electronic device that produced sound waves!. These sound waves could be received in another location and remodulated into flashes of light on a mirror!.

Up until this point, the concept behind television was established, but it wasn’t until electronic scanning of imagery (the breaking up of images into tiny points of light for transmission over radio waves), was invented, that modern television received its start!. But here is where the controversy really heats up!.

The credit as to who was the inventor of modern television really comes down to two different people in two different places both working on the same problem at about the same time: Vladimir Kosma Zworykin, a Russian-born American inventor working for Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a privately backed farm boy from the state of Utah!.

“Zworykin had a patent, but Farnsworth had a picture…”

The Biden gaffe:

in an interview with “CBS Evening News,” Biden misspoke when he told anchor Katie Couric that today's leaders should take a lesson from the history books and follow former President Franklin D!. Roosevelt's response to a previous national financial crisis!.

Declared Biden: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D!. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed!. He said, 'Look, here's what happened!.'”

What's wrong with that, some might ask!?

Well, for starters Republican Herbert Hoover was president when the stock market crashed in October 1929!. Second, Roosevelt didn't take office until four years later!. And, not to be picky, but there were also no televisions in use at the time!. Radio was Roosevelt's favored medium!.

That's at link TWO!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was!. When the actual invention was put together FDR was alive and in the White House!.

Due to the war, the dominance of other media and the requirements of the postwar boom broadcasts were not common until later, but not much later at that!. When my dad bought the first set on the block in 1955 there were already three networks, and that was just ten years after Roosevelt died!.

So give Palin credit for being right at least once!. Besides, I think the supposed gaffe was Joe Biden's, and not significant in the scheme of things!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

depends if you mean it was already invented at that time or it had just been invented because if you mean Franklin D!. Roosevelt TV was invented when he was presendent!.

Other than that i dont get the question, do you have to be american or something like that looking at the other answers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
