Question: Should the titanic be raised!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!. Because I would love to see it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

two major problems:

for many years it was wondered if it was really in 1 piece or 2 as witnesses claimed!.

In fact in the 80's, before Robert Ballard found it in two pieces, there was a movie called "Raise the Titanic" where a Whole Titanic is raised to find a military secret locked in a vault!.

but since its in two pieces then you'd have to find a way to get a whole section up and unflood!.

second problem and this is the worst part!.

80 years has done too much damage to it!.

as they say "The Titanic is returning back to nature from where it came" it is becoming so unsteady through years of sea water eating away at it, that when they tried to raise part of it, a whole wall piece broke easily away from it!.

soon there will be nothing left!.

Titanic cannot be raised!. And if it was the fact that it has been 2 miles under water and in 2000 psi if water since 1912 the hull is to brittle to support anything still inside!. On the bow there are several cracks from the impact with the sea bed!. And the stern is not even worth thinking about because when it was traveling to the bottom the water running past pealed the hull away!. And if you bring it into the air it won't survive more than a month or two!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

First, we barely have the ability to send down remote vehicles to inspect the outside of the ship, we certainly don't have the capability to raise such a large vessel from such a depth!.

Second, the ship is ok where it is at, the deep depth will protect it for a long time still, but bringing it to the surface, it would rapidly detiorate!.

Third, International law regards many shipwrecks as burial sites, thus making it a crime to reclaim them without prior written agreements with involved nations!.

No, it is a grave to thousands of people, leave it where it is and besides, when the Titanic sank it embedded in the sea floor very deep so it would be impossible to raise it with taking it apart first!.

Scientists reckon that Titanic has 50 years left before it dissolves away completley!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the Titanic were to be pulled up, pieces may fall off!. After all them years, damage could be caused by trying to pull it up!. It will all ways be historic, but it will always have to stay were it is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It matters not whether we think that it should or should not!. The simple fact is that she lies in two pieces and is so rusted and weak that raising her is a complete impossibility!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, it should be left in peace!. In any case, it's all rusting away and it would probably fall to bits if anyone tried to raise it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It probalby wouldn't even be able to be raised!.!.!.!.it would get damaged and then there goes a historic artifact!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
