Question: Why wasn't the Roman empire able to conquer Persia!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Three main reasons!.

1!. Roman armies relied extensively on infantry, while the Parthians deployed several varieties of cavalry which were faster and more maneuverable than the Roman legions!.

2!. The Parthians also employed tactics like archers on horseback that the Romans had never seen!. The Parthian bowmen developed a method of firing backward in the saddle that destroyed many Romans who thought the Parthians were retreating!. As a result the Romans pursued and were slaughtered when the bowmen reversed in their saddles and let loose a barrage of arrows!. This technique came to be known as "The Parthian Shot!."

3!. Supply lines were far too long for Rome!. If they had seriously wanted to conquer Parthia they would have to have invested far more resources!. In short, Parthia was too powerful and too far away for Rome to take!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
