Question: Did Malcolm X wear a zoot suit!?
Ok my teacher was talking about this cartoon that was used by the US for propaganda against the USSR!. And that the character portraying the "communist" was wearing a Zoot Suit!. So then my teacher ask why is that important and who wore Zoot Suits!?
And I said the old Chicanos wore Zoot Suits and he said yes and that it is in the cartoon because of the racial discrimination of back then!.
But back to my point!.!.!.!.!. this one girl said that also Malcolm X wore a Zoot Suit and she didn't quite say it but she keep emphasizing the importance of him wearing one!.
Now i was just confused by this but let it go because she would just fight me until i would give up!.
So again did he or did he not wear a Zoot Suit!? Or was he even affiliated with anything of the Zoot Suit!?
I really don't like this girl and i want to shove it in her face!. I don't want to sound mean but im sure we have all meet those people that get really annoying and they think they know everything and you just want to have something so you can rub it in their face and say HA!

She has probably watched the autobiographical film 'X' by Spike Lee and prior to his involvement in the Nation of Islam, Malcom X was depicted wearing Zoot Suits and using acid to straighten his hair to make himself look more 'White' (as Denzel Washington states in the film)!. It's not mentioned weather it was a dramatization or based on factual events!.
He was employed briefly at a Big Band/Swing club in the early 40's and I'd imagine at the time Zoot Suits were popular with the swing crowd!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
Malcolm, in his autobiography, spoke of many things he did in his younger days!. He sold liquor, drugs, women, and yes wore zoot suits because it was the thing to wear!. However im not sure about wearing them because of some communist reason!. From what I got from his story he was just fitting in to be a part of the in-crowd!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
