It is my opinion that while all of Europe was waiting with anticipation for a war, and the German General Staff were well prepared for it, the Kaiser did his best to talk the Czar out of starting it!. Although the Kaiser did enjoy his role as Supremer Warlord, when it came to it!.

It was Russia that started the war, and Germany went to the aid of their Austrian allies!.

France and Britain declared war on Germany & Austria, as allies of Russia!.

The system of alliances was largely responsible for the war!.

It is inadvisable to lose a war, because you are then blamed for it!.

What was wrong on Germany's part was to invade Belgium, which was neutral!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No it was not, and the subsequent Treaty of Versailles and the bankrupting of the German economy for war reparations did more to humiliate a proud nation and guarantee the rise of Hitler and consequently the second world war than anything else in history!.

All the European countries were actively increasing their armed forces at the time and were all 'jockeying' for supremacy, by a series of complicated treaties between several countries the world blundered into
war, Germany was declared the 'aggressor' by the victorious allies with the inevitable consequences!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It wasn';t justifiable anything it started the war deliberately to extend its colonial power !. The assignation of Duke Ferdinand was a god send, and gave Kiaser bill the excuse he had been waiting for, Www@QuestionHome@Com
