Question: I need to do an assessment on the English Civil war and the assessment is: How did Cromwell win the war!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
In military terms, it was quite simple!.
The Royalists had a head start, because of their natural experience and capacities in leadership, dashing cavalry officers like Prince Rupert of the Rhein and a bigger “war chest”!.
The Parlamentarians reacted with a “professional army”, the "Model Army", that earned it’s nickname of “Roundheads” due to their short cropped hair and body armour!. Oliver Cromwell’s “secret” was training, training, training!. Industrial towns and their “mobile” wealth tended to side with Cromwell, whilst the Royalists had more rural support, with “landed” wealth, which was more difficult to mobilise!. This helped turn the economical tables!. Remember that “war is 70% Economics and 30% Valour, but in terms of "capacity", it's 50% material 50% traning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The indecisive engagements of 1643 were remarkable mainly for the emergence of Oliver Cromwell, an inconspicuous member of the Long Parliament, to military prominence with his own regiment of “godly” men, soon to become famous as the Ironsides!.
