What is wrong with this sentence and what can I include to make it sound better!? This is about ancient Mayan Art!.

Human sacrifice was extremely important in the society, so much so that there was a ‘Platform of Skulls’ which displayed the heads of victims of sacrifice!.

The importance of human sacrifice in Mayan society is apparent in the archaeological record!. Following ritual decapitations, the heads of sacrificial victims were displayed publicly on a "Platform of Skulls"!. (site a source here) Www@QuestionHome@Com

change it to:
Human sacrifice was extremely important in the society, so much that there was a 'Platform of Skulls' which displayed the sacrificed victims heads!.
deleting the "so" after "much"!. changing it to sacrificed victims heads sounds smoother!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
