When your spending a 1,000,000 (Union)a day on the war this means somebodies making money supplying the government with materials!.Many factories in the north were set up to do just that!.Most of the damage from the war occurred in the south, so that their economy suffered the most!.The anaconda plan set up in the early war,to squeeze the south, worked, as goods were in short supply almost immediately, and prices shot up accordingly!.Confederate scrip lost its value, and people in town and city in the south were hard pressed to copeWww@QuestionHome@Com
