Question: Need some help on social studies essay please :)!?
I'm writing a social studies essay, and I'm given two different topics to pick!.!.!.

Topic A

"Some people believe that citizens should freely express disagreement with their government's policies and actions!. Others feel that citizens should not!. They believe that citizens should accept government policies without dissent!."

TO WHAT EXTENT SHOULD CITIZENS EXPRESS DISAGREEMENT WITH THEIR GOVERNMENT'S POLICIES AND ACTIONS!?

Topic B

"Some people believe that political decisions should be made with the consent of the public!. Others argue that political decision making should be left to an informed leadership!."

TO WHAT EXTENT SHOULD THE PUBLIC BE INVOLVED IN POLTICAL DECISION MAKING!?

In your essay, take and defend a position on one of these issues!.!.!.

I know that these questions are really opinionated and that I'll be marked on how well I can convince my readers and all that kind of stuff!.!.!.!.

But the thing is, my teacher HEAVILY influences the need of examples, and I have no idea, what kind of historical examples I could use!.

(My teacher HEAVILY influences the essay outline, called "S!.E!.X!.", Statement, Explanation, and eXamples or the other way around with the E's!.)

Both questions are almost identical in my opinion, but I think I would write the first topic!.

Which topic would you write, and what kind of examples would you use!?

Please and thank you :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree you should go for topic A!.
We live in a democratic country, you can argue that government/politicians are elected by the citizens to represent those same citizens!. So if they are disagreements with the policy it is up to the citizens to voice their opinions as it means they are not being represented properly!.
Some examples could be the power that some lobby groups have in policy making - a direct link with citizen opinion in policy making!.
also you could do a comparison of a dictatorship vs democratic country and some of the civil unrest that can occur!.
Historically, possibly the backlash of the Vietnam War as an example of people disagreeing with policy and the governments having to deal with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For the first topic, I would look up Thomas Jefferson's stance on the need for rebellion by the people and the necessity of overthrowing the government from time to time!.

For the second topic(which happens to be the one I would pick), I would use examples from the stance of Alexander Hamilton on the use of the educated elite to govern the masses, and I would also include some examples pertaining to the electoral college and its decisions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
