I think it was protestantism!. Henry the VIII's reign saw a reduction in Catholics and he also established the Church of England!.!.!. um but I'm not a historian so I'm not sure!. Look up Protestantism for help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was Anglicanism, the national Protestant Church with the monarch as the head of the Church!. The Puritans were very unpopular at this point as they were driven to take all the fun out of life - no dancing, no gambling, no horse racing, no days off from work except for Sunday, and so on!. They also insisted they were holier than everybody else, which still irks the hell out of most people!.
The only place Puritans were popular was here in Massachusetts, much to the detriment of our state and the rest of the country!. The Calvinist theology underlying Puritan beliefs held that humans are fundamentally wicked and corrupt, and that they must be punished for every major or minor lapse in morality!. We still suffer from this Puritan hangover today in the US!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there was also a rise in the Lutheran Church however islam may also have been popular particularly in Spain, however im not sure when the inquisetion began http://christianity!.about!.com/od/luthera!.!.!.

hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com
