Here's several important but also interesting events/inventions that I can remember!.

!. Gunpowder comes into widespread use in the 1500's AD with cannons and primitive fire arms known as Arquebuses!. The Chinese discovered the abilities of this white substance in the 9th century AD, but some historians claim Muslim alchemists came across it earlier!.

!. The Black Death ravages "the known world"!. This epidemic killed 20 million people throughout Europe and 75 million worldwide!. It began in Northern Turkey in the city of Caffa and slowly spread by means of transport!. Merchant vessels travelled to ports in Messina, Sicily, where the infected rats escaped!. The Black Death altered society by destroying the Feudal system, a decentralized form of government in the Middle Ages!. It caused a shift in rural population to urban areas, neglecting farming!. Overall everyone was hit hard in an economic crisis!.

!. The Crusades!. These were a series of Christian wars against the arabic infidels in the East who had authority over the Holy lands!. They lasted from 1095 AD-1272 AD!. Jerusalem was the centre of the Earth in Medieval times and a sacred settlement of immense spiritual and religious importance!. There were 9 attempted conquests by the kingdom of Christendom, but only 2 were successful!.

!. Christopher Columbus discovers "The Americas" in 1492 AD!. His findings were reported to the mainland upon his arrival back home!. Log books and journals kept official records of what he encountered on the trip!. Numerous expeditions to these new lands took place years after, leading to colonization of Mexico and South America, plus the destruction of the ancient Aztec empire!.

!. The Mongol invasion of Europe and China!. Gengis Khan, a mighty leader of the "Golden horde" orders them to pillage provinces in Chinese territory!. By 1226 AD they control all of the area and head westward with a constant movement!. Under Batu Khan, the Mongols are able to sack countless cities and enslave the Orthodox Russians!. Huge wealth is gained from the looting and the expansion of Mongolia stretches across thousands of kilometres, being the second biggest empire on earth to this date!. When 4 generals could not decide who would reign next after Ogadi Khan's death, the empire split into 4 sections!.
