Question: I have a question on world war 1!?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Moral Justification: "To make the world safe for Democracy!." The premise is that the Allies were democratic, and therefore better than the Axis Powers!. also, that the Axis Powers would have destroyed democracy had they prevailed!. Both points are debatable!.

Economic Justification: The war was good for arms merchants who already were reaping huge profits without the participation of the United States!. Going to war meant larger budget deficits, higher taxes, the income tax being imposed permanently, and the reassignment of production for military ends rather than civilian ends!.

Political Justification: Wilson was elected on the platform of keeping America out of the war!. There was no political justification for going to war at that time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm taking it that's for your history class, and that's an opinonated question, and more then likely, you're going to have to use the author of the text books opinion on that one!.

My opinion, the Germans were falsely accusing us of taking sides, and they fired on our trade ships for no reason!. Trade helps the economy, and the US was trading with Britain and a few other nations, and the German sub's were sinking our trade vessels trying to keep supplies out of the British and their allies hands, which hurt our economy because trade was bad!. Obviously, Germany was trying to bully the US, and President Wilson retaliated and declared war!.

Morally the US was justified because the US had to stand up for it's own rights!.
Economically because it was hurting our trade and it pulled us out of a slump
And politically because we needed to establish ourselves as a powerful nation as is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
