as a member of one of the nations (mohawk) that sided with the british during the revolutionary war, i can tell you we were totally involved in the politics of the time!. after all, this war was being fought in our front yard so we had no choice but to choose sides!.
we tried not to be involved because by then we knew that promises were made only to be broken!.

one of our confederacy nations, the oneida, sided with the colonists and were instrumental in saving washington in valley forge by bringing bushels of their own food stores to him and his soldiers there!. what did they get for their trouble!? today they have only 32 acres left of the 500 million plus they had pre contact!.

no matter which side we fought on, it was a lose lose proposition!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Native Americans were probably delighted that white men were killing each other instead of them!. Overall I seriously doubt that the Native Americans were too concerned with the politics of the white man!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The question for the Natives to answer was who was the lesser evil!? Most decided to side with the British because they had tried to prevent the colonists from crossing the Appalachians!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
