Some things you could think about are why she never married!. She said she was married to her country!. Did she have a horror of marriage!? She was about three years old when her mother, her father's second wife, was beheaded!. Then her stepmother, Henry's fifth wife Catherine Howard was executed!. After her father's death, she lived with her last stepmother, Katherine Parr, and Katherine's husband Thomas Seymour, and Thomas played very inappropriate games with the young girl!. As Queen, Elizabeth was always being urged to marry; she played fast and loose with suitors, but remained single!. If she had married, her husband, under the rules and laws of the day, would have had authority over her, and she would have lost much of her power!. If her husband had been a foreign prince, the English wouldn't have liked that as it meant he would have made England a satellite power; if she had married an Englishman, that would have meant infighting among the nobles of England, and one family being raised above another!.

Her half-sister Mary who was born in 1542 was Roman Catholic and plotted for the English throne!. As a result she was arrested and spent 20 years as a prisoner!. The last 4 years were spent in the Tower of London where she was executed by Elizabeth's royal order in October 1157!.
As a young girl, Elizabeth enjoyed learning and as a result, by the time her father died , she was gifted fluently in 5 languages!.
Her reign was known as the Golden Age due in part to the fact that Elizabeth was an immensely popular queen and because when she ascended the throne, England was an impoverished country torn apart by religious rivalry but by the time she died in 1603, England was known as one of the most powerful and prosperous countries in the world!.!.

However, since her father's self-proclaimed divorce from Catherine of Aragon, according to the Pope, she was illegitimate, and as such she could not be Queen of England!. Please don't confuse Elizabeth's half-sister Mary Tudor (often called Bloody Mary, who ruled the UK for the 5 years prior to Elizabeth and was Henry VIII's first child) and Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth's cousin on her father's side who ruled Scotland!. It is Mary Queen of Scots who was involved in plots against Elizabeth, not her half-sister Mary Tudor!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

you need to be a bit more specific, otherwise i can only give you really vague things!!! Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII and his 2nd wife Anne Boleyn!. she was actually conceived out of wedlock - anne and henry were married on 25th january 1533 and elizabeth was born in early september (7th i think)!. at the time henry had broken with rome and sent his first wife catharine of aragon into exile - in order to make his marriage to anne legal and elizabeth legitimate he had the archbishop cranmer declare the union valid but many still thought henry was a bigamist!.

Because her mother was beheaded for treason (may 1536) when Elizabeth was less than 3 years old elizabeth became a bastard again and was never allowed to apeak of or learn about her mother!. Elizabeth was treated quite well by her father - she was even allowed to carry her little brother edward (the new, undisputed heir to the throne) christending cloth at his ceremony!. she was well educated, in fact a real scholar and invited to court at times both when her husband and brother were on the thone!. after henry's death she lived with his sixth wife katherine parr for a time but was sent away after rumoured indiscretions with katherine's husband thomas seymour!. when seymour was later beheaded Elizabeth who had always denied rumours of more than a daughter/stepfather relationship with him called him "a man with much wit but very little judgement"

Elizabeth never married although she almost demanded that the game of "courtly love" was played by the majority of courtiers to her!. She was a vain, selfish woman and her jealousy of the queen of scots beauty and youth had to be one reason she finally managed to bring herself to sign the death warrant!. Her one great love was robert dudley whom she created Earl of Leicester and whose death in 1588 devastated her!. she may well have married dudley if not for the scandal of his wife amy being found dead at the bottom of the stirs - the rumours that dudley himself had done away with his wife to free himself for Elizabeth put paid to any chance she could have dared marry him!. Elizabeth adored compliments etc and enjoyed toying with various suiors including Queen Mary's widower Phillip pf Spain but she procrastinated (alot - not just in the subject of marriage - waiting was one of elizabeth's strengths!!!) time and again then turned men down!. After dudley died only the hot-tempered, volatile Earl of Essex really seemed to mean much to the now aging queen but he met his end on the scaffold!. the question as to whether a woman who so adored men and flirting could really have remained a virgin all her life remains unanswered but Elizabeth certainly refused to shre her power with a husband!.

As Elizabeth grew older, still unmarried and still procrastinating over naming her heir, her advisors became increasingly desperate, terrifed of more bloody civil war like the war of roses when elizabeths own grandfather just 3 generations ago had picked his crown out of the muddy battlefield floor!. Elizabeth died in 1603, leaving the question only half answered so the council went ahead and declared james VI of scotland as King James I of England!.

Elizabeth ruled over a golden age of great explorations to foreign worlds, the majority was a peaceful reign and she famously walked upon the deck of one of her ships before they sailed out to meet (and defeat) the spanish armada and gave a stirring speech!.
