Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Napoleon

Before Napoleon, the French Revolution had dramatically changed France from monarchy to Republic, but that Republic was ineffective, and without the revolutionary spirit of French citizens would have fallen to the forces of Europe's other monarchies, and in Britain's case, constitutional monarchy!. Napoleon in his military victories and conquests carried forth the ideas of the French Revolution everywhere the French army went, which destroyed the old practically feudal manner in which every monarch ruled in Central and Eastern Europe!.

The consequences of the French Revolution and Napoleon spread the ideas that people were part of a larger enterprise, of a nation, rather then of their own farm!. It inspired the nationalistic uprisings of 1848, the creation of Italy, the means for which Bismark would unite Germany, and ultimately through a long chain of events, one of the causes for WWI!.

Without Napoleon, the industrial revolution would have been dramatically slower in central and eastern Europe, and possibly even in France as well, and with no political changes there would be little in the way of social change!. Men like Marx and Freud might have still appeared, but without something that would dramatically change the culture of the vast majority of Europe's peoples, it is doubtful that their thoughts would be listened to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, what was the long-term impact of each!?

1)Nap - created Napoleonic Code (still part of the legal system of many countries), discovered Rosetta Stone, helped bring about (through his COnfederation of the Rhine) the eventual union of Germany!.

2)Freud - theories now basically rejected by psychologists, but made an important impact on literature!.

3) Marx - Communism fell, but left a lasting legacy of Socialism!. (Eg, almost every country has government-run universal health care, except the US)

So, I would pick Marx!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd say Napoleon!. If it weren't for him the War of 1812 (which some call the 2nd Revolutionary War) might well have turned out differently!. also, the pattern of alliances that started in trying to stop him had a large part in making WWI so widespread!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

In MY opinion!? Marx by far!. More lives have been affected by communism and Marxism than anything the other two did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
