Question: Soviet role in World War 2 was much bigger then american, english and australian,or!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Soviet Eastern front was perhaps the most important front of the western theater of operations because through attrition, the Red Army weakened the German army allowing the US/UK/Commonwealth to open a second front in Normandy!. Of all the European combatants, the USSR had the largest standing army, produced the most tanks/armored vehicles, and through sheer overwhelming numbers, ground the Nazi war Juggernaut into the ground!. The Red army turned a rout in 41 into a sweeping advance in 43-44 forcing the Germans to abandon equipment and retreat!. The Soviets had the capacity to either manufacture or borrow enough equipment, whereas the German manufacturing capacity was almost totally destroyed by US/UK Strategic bombing raids on industrial targets!.

The Germans couldn't replace/repair equipment while the Soviets would replace one lost tank with five!. Against that tide of production, victory on the Eastern Front was assured by Timoshenko/Zhukov because as they reported to Stalin:"We have more soldiers than the Germans have bullets!."

But victory in Europe was a collaborative effort!. Lend-lease, Murmansk supply convoys, strategic bombings from the western allies preserved the Red Army until production capacity was restored and improved!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bigger means different things to different people!.!.!.the USA covered more area and more fronts!. The Russians had more people involved, more killed- millions vs the thousands of the US!.
However the US supplied much of the ships, arms, fuel, etc for Britain, Free French and other European countries, Australia, China, and aided the Soviet Union!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I wouldn't say so!. They suffered more casualties certainly, but I don't know that their "role" was any bigger!. They didn't partake in the North African or Italian campaigns, nor were they involved in the Pacific at all!. In my opinion, contributions from the US and England were just as important to victory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
