The Bhakti movement started when people could not follow the sanskrit teachings of the ancient teachers!. Many saints( I am using this term for want of any better word) started teaching the good thoughts in the Hindu philosophy to ordinary people!. the asked people to believe in a God who would take the responsibility of guiding them to lead a better life!. The impact was that people could hear about good points in their own language, treat God as a personal Deity who would always be there!. Bhakti is not an ism or organised religion!.
