Question: Who won the first 3 crusades!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I think that the period between the 4 crusades were just ceasefires!. So honestly, the Christians did take control of Jerusalem for awhile, but in the end the Muslims came out victorious!.

If I remember right, Christians 'won' the first and the Muslims won the rest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's my answer for you, hope it helps!.

1!. The First Crusade was instigated by Pope Urban II in 1095 AD!. The armies of Christendom marched under the banner of christ, united against the Infidels in the East!. Several cities were sacked along the way to Jerusalem!. The Turkish capital Nicaea was pillaged, and Antioch fell through treachery from an Armenian spy!. Other provinces were also occupied by the Crusaders in the Palestine area!. In 1099 AD the holy centre of faith was besieged and taken!. The Crusading forces held this settlement of importance for 88 years, until Saladin, a great Muslim commander re-took it for the glory of Islam!.

2!. The second crusade was launched in 1147 AD by Pope Eugene III, after the fall of Edessa, a "crusader state"!. However, several leaders turned their attention to Damascus and other towns - relationships between Generals became very poor after a series of disagreements and bickering!. Crusaders from Europe helped re-capture the Portugese Capital Lisbon, from the Moors, but apart from this the second Crusade was an utter failure!.

3!. The third crusade was in response to Jerusalem!. As I previously said, Saladin and his devoted islamic regiments destroyed christian power over the holy lands!. It was ordered by Gregory VIII in 1189 AD!. King of England, Richard Lionheart and several other bodies became involved!. Saladin had to be eliminated and catholic rule restored!. After a collection of conflicts and thousands of deaths a treaty was signed between Richard and Saladin in 1192 AD!. This document stated that Jeruslame would stay under Muslim control, but unarmed pilgrims were allowed access!. Richard then departed under these conditions!. Saladin died in 1193 AD!.
