Because the Treaty of Versailles was arguably a major factor in the creation of WW2 - because under such a harsh treaty conditions were created which led to circumstances that allowed the rise to power of the Nazis who started WW2!. So they werent going to make that mistake again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Germany asked for terms at the end of WWI because they knew if they continued the war, they would lose!. They were dismayed to find they were being forced into retributions, which they resented- they could have continued the war for a couple of more years, but decided to stop BEFORE they were defeated!.!.!.!.
To prevent the Germans from thinking they did not deserve harsh treatment for ending the war before they were defeated, the Allies determined to fight until the Axis powers surrendered unconditionally- so they KNEW they had lost!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Germany surrendered unconditionally after WW II!. At the end of WW I, Germany demanded terms and got them!. It was an armistice, not a surrender!. It paved the way for WWII with it's draconian measures of retribution!.

The surrender of Germany at the end of WW II may have proved that every once in a very rare while, people DO learn from History!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
