Question: Why do you never hear about what happened to the German people in WW2!?
None of my History teachers ever told us what happened to the German people, only ever the English!.

Does this seem fair to you!?

Not all the people were the ones helping with the concentration camps, not all of them even wanted anything to do with the Nazi party, but if you disobeyed or went against Hitler, the Gestapo would and take you away!.

Does it seem fair to you that we were never told about what happened to the German people!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know where you're coming from in this question!. My Grandmother is German and she met my Grandfather in Germany during WWII!.!.!.he was an American soldier!. She was in a part of Germany that worshiped Hitler!. They were told from an early age (during Hilter's regime) that Hitler was the reason their parents had jobs, the reason they got to go to school, the reason they had food on their table, and everything, like brainwashing!. They didn't know and I mean literally didn't know what was going on!. Whenever they found out, they were in disbelief that Hitler could do such a thing!.

My Grandfather never spoke about the war when she was around because he saw the war the way it's portrayed in the history books and she didn't!. She'd tell you, "Hitler was not a bad man, he was just misunderstood" and you want to have a real WTF moment, but you have to consider how she was reared!. She never really accepted the Holocaust and always said, "there were not that many [Jews]!."

You really have an entire realm to examine and understand!. To her and the people around her, Hitler was the one, he was the reason everything was well for them in the German countryside!. So, I'd love to know more about the German people!. I know we have had stories about the Nazi's but not all German's were Nazi's, not all German's were Jew hating people, my Grandmother was Lutheran and has never had an issue with Jews!.

I think it's a disgrace that we can't learn more about the average German people and what happened to them following the war and see their struggles after Hitler's death and the later reconstruction of Germany and all that followed!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

One of the things that you should be taught in school, is how to do outside reading and how to round out your knowledge on a subject!. Your teachers can not teach you all about every historical era - only the highlights!. There simply isn't enough time to set the stage completely and to introduce all the factors involved!.
If you are interested, there are many, many books on the subject of Germany during the war - including some translated from the German that give their points of view!.
There is a saying that I'm sure you've heard "History is the story told by the victors" and it is very true!. Things are written from the point of view of the winners!. That doesn't mean it's the only history - or even the correct one - but it's what is recorded!. So if you want to know more, be a little independent in your thinking - ask questions, go to the library, go online!. All the information is there, all you have to do is look for it!. The history you get in school must be very shallow, because there's so much of it to cover!. There is plenty of information available about the German Home Front, but you'll need to do some digging on your own!. The Wikipedia article is a good place to start -- make use of the bibliography and references at the end (this particular article needs a lot of fleshing out!)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Whatever country you live in only teaches you their side!. I am from the USA and we only teach our view of stuff!. Like the USA had a war with canada and they ever taught us about it and now I live in canada its brought up alot!. I visited mexico and they have a whole different story about what happend at the alamo!.

No it doesn't seem fair!. But any intelligent person can deduce that there's no possible way 100% of the German people backed Hitler!. One should just assume that, that is to say, if "one" was intelligent enough!. Do you get what I'm saying here!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

There were a lot of innocent German people who did not support the Nazis, however there were far more victims of the Germans than there were German people who were victimized!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, it is strange!. It'd be interesting to know what happened to them!.!.!.if only people could get past their prejudice & profiling!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The U S helped Germany to re-build; It was a very rough time for the German people!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Almost all countries in the world teach history from their own point of view!. Certain events receive more attention than others, others contribution or suffering is minimised or ignored!. Look at the way the Japanese have taught WWII in their schools!.

The teaching of History is also about our national mythology, the most recent episode of which is our life or death struggle with the Axis!. Similarly, popular culture from "Mrs Minerva" to "Dads Army" has concentrated on the common experiences of the British People in face of potential distruction!.

In the UK the history of World War II is currently taught as a way to introduce pupils to original sources and to Social History (ie the history of ordinary people)!. Children are encouraged to look at original sources including films and TV programmes and to speak to their grandparents or great-grandparents about their memories of the War!. So unless your grandma is a German you see your owns side point of view!.

Having said this there has been a great deal of revisionism about the suffering of the German People in WWII!. Comparisons are made between the bombing raids on Coventry and Dresden
http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Bombing_of_!.!.!.

also an examination of historical documentaries on British TV, particularly on cable and satellite channels shows an almost unhealthy obsession with the Nazi Era (1933-45)!. So overall I think the balance is far fairer than you suggest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fair!? It was war!. Fair!? They started it and supported Hitler!? Fair!?
Most of the records and files were destroyed by the unfair allied bombing and unfair Russians who ransacked Germany after the Germans invaded and destroyed half of Russia!. Fair!? Sure go ahead and disobey, then you are dead!. Fair!? We have little record of what happened!. Fair!? Of course not!. But remember, the Victor writes history!. Not Fair!?

I am sorry, I must recant my earlier comments!. After all look how unfair Ted Bundy was treated, all of those Nurses were teasing him!. They deserved to die, but no one was fair to Ted!.
And Timothy McVie, all those babies in the Federal Building Day care center, the noise they must have made!. It was so unfair that McVie was punished for killing babies!. Oh, I forgot, the Nazies cut babies out of "zionists" mothers wombs, to see how long they survived!. But that is only fair to research!.
Albert Vetitoe, poor baby, treated so unfairly by history, just because he killed all those young women!.
There were thousands of books written just about BergenBelsen, maybe you should read some of them and get grounded before you start making the type of comments you seem attuned to!. After all, be fair!.

I am prejudiced!? How totally unfair!. Not a fair comment at all!. Fair would have been that my grandparents were not marched off to concentration camps while everyday citizens of Germany choose to ignore their very presence!. Fair would be that you stop assigning labels to someone you know absolutely nothing about and are obviously very unfair to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a good question!. History is filled with lies, and half-truths!. If you really want to know, google "Benjamin Friedman" and read his speech given in 1961 in DC!. You will be shocked to learn some of the things you learn!. Friedman was a former zionist Jew who converted to Catholocism!. You can also hear his speech on you tube !. just type his name!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
