The Greeks did have several confrontations with Roman legions, beginning in 281 BC!. A Roman city, known as Tarentum, was occupied by the Hellenistic Kingdom of Greece!. Roman forces successfully seized it, in an attempt to expand their nations borders!. This is when hositilites began!.

From 200 BC-100 BC, Rome fought bitter wars with Macedonian and the Greek armies, claiming the foreign territory and enslaving the population!. On some occassions they would massacre a large proportion of people to set an example for the others!.

By the end of the century, all of Greece's provinces, ports and trade routes were owned and controlled by Rome!. In my opinion, Sparta, Athens and Corinth became major places of importance!. Yes, there were several battles between the Romans and various
Greek city-states!. Eventually all of Greece was incorporated as a
Roman province, not surprisingly named "Greece!." also, don't forget that large swathes of southern Italy were Greek colonies,
so the Romans were in contact with them militarily long before
