Question: How did Bevan persuade the medical profession to join the NHS!?

His own, typically cynical, answer was, "I stopped their mouths with gold!."

In other words, he offered the doctors so much pay that they ran with open mouths to feed at the trough!. They have been astonishingly well-paid compared with other professionals, ever since!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of the medical profession were against it but they had no choice!.
It was in the Labour Manifesto and the government had been elected with a huge popular voteWww@QuestionHome@Com
