Question: Is Che Guavera really that "revolutionary" of a person!?
I've done some reading on Wiki and also NRO and I am conflicted on whether or not this man promoted "good" in society!.

From what I gather, he sounds like a man who let his passion escape his vision and ended up starting an unfavorable government, killing many who didn't believe in his views on politics, and ironically becoming part of product promotion in the free market - the very thing he hated!.

The thing that I disagree with the most is the fact that Che thinks that the explosion of a bomb or firing of a gun is the only true way to start a true revolution (Did he never hear of Ghandi!?)!. Plus, he said that if he would have had missiles he would of fired them at the US!.

Once again, I have no problem with helping the poor or even promoting socialism - to a certain degree - but it seems that if I wanted to idolize someone, I would choose someone of a passive and agreeable nature, than cast my lots in the memory of Che!.

What do you think of my assessment of this man!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Good question, and I sincerely concur with you for I also do not understand how he can be viewed as any type of hero except other than for terrorists!.
He was very narrow minded and had very little friends, he was so fanatical that even those who knew him well did not want to be around him!. He believed that if someone did not share his same views then they were the enemy, and should be killed!.
I view him as an anarchist, a person against almost ever thing who extorts violence as entertainment!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

>firing of a gun is the only true way to start a true revolution

Wasn't that the American way in 1775!? And it is the way of most revolutions, the "peaceful" ones are the rarest exceptions (and not without bloodshed)!.

A certain amount of his promotion to icon is the virtually global admiration that the underdog receives, the smaller nation standing up for itself, the unfancied boxer taking a beating, they earn a (sometimes grudging) admiration and even respect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Till an extent, legal means can tame a situation!. However when the odd are so against the rain, there is no other way than to resort to violence (leading to violations against human rights)!. However, one should not overlook the fact, that human rights violations were either ways taking place by the then state machineries!.

Its understandable, that many of Guevara's facets (personal and impersonal) might register as less than acceptable, but then one reallly needs to understand the situation that led him to what he became and the cause!.
