We grew and prospered!. At home, for 4 years people had to live with rationing
of food, gas, tires, and etc!. Basically no autos were manufactured during the
war, and that was true for farm Equipment also!. There was a pent up demand
for consumer goods!.
12 million servicemen were released from service and came back to their
old job!. Many got married and started family's!. A big change was wrought by the
G!.I!. Bill which paid vets a stipend to attend college!. Hundreds of thousands
opted for college!.

Many of the European countries were decimated by the war and we started
a program called the "Marshall Plan" which provided them money to get back on their feet!. It took many years for them to recover!.
Even though Russia had been our ally during the war, they chose to be our
enemy during the rebuilding process!. We had what we called a cold war
with them from soon after the end of WWII until about 1989!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
