Alexander Hamilton was a Federalist and Thomas Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican!.!.!.!.

Federalists were very in favor of big government!.!.!.!. so much so that they held a very high opinion of the recently defeated British Empire!. They believed that Federal law should be the norm and that state governments were only there to enforce Federal Law!.!.!.!.!. Democratic-Republicans were on the other hand not very big on Big Government!.!.!.!.Likewise they did not have a favorable opinion of England nor did they believe that State Governments were there simply to enforce Federal Law but rather believed that State Governments should make their own Legislation and the Federal Government was there to support them!.!.!.!.
