Question: Why is Hitler the bad guy when another guy from the same era killed six times more people!?

One has to question Tim D's mentality when it comes to his answer for the question!. It is crystal clear he has little idea of the events in world war II, from the ludicrous statements he has presented!.

1!.There may be some forms of weak evidence regarding Stalin, however there certainly aren't thousands of accurately documented accounts and definitely not fictional ones, which you seem to be suggesting!. The main focus of world war II was on Hitler and the Holocaust - Joseph Stalin's regime attracted limited attention and as a result documentation remains low and disputed!.

2!. The relationship between Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt during the war was reasonably good, not "the enemy of my enemy"!. Winston relied on U!.S war products and resources (oil, weapons, missiles and aircraft) and Franklin was all to happy to supply them!. The depression American society was experiencing needed to be uplifted and this quite simply was the way out!. Stalin's relations politically throughout the conflict with his British counterpart was admirable!. Brought together by the inexhaustible ambitions of Hitler's Germany they aided eachother with required assistance!. All three nations collaborated without hesitation in an effort to crush Nazi occupation of foreign lands!.

3!. But this is the funniest of all - "And in Realpolitik the guy in the black hat who is prepared/forced to lose millions of his population to fight the other black hat while your population stays alive is the good guy"

- What!? It doesn't even make sense!.

Some advice Tim, Don't critisize and you won't get critisized!.

I'd also like to point out Muinghan's useless contribution!. No Muinghan, Hitler didn't kill 11 million, check any sources and you'll see the number I've previously stated!. The popular theory for deaths from Stalin is 20 million - this doesn't make it so!.

- Regarding the previous question, mind your own business on other peoples opinions Muinghan, I don't comment on your post, so don't comment on mine!.

Now to your question!.!.!. Everything you stated is very correct and I'm in total agreement with you!.

Here is the reason why some historians consider Hitler to be more "evil" than Stalin!. They were both peccant dictators but the Kraut himself is responsible for the genocide of 6 million jews and innumerable other deaths on the battlefield!. The reason there was so much focus on Hitler was because he targeted a specific group of people!. He aimed to eliminate a single race - Stalin would ruthlessly kill anyone who posed a threat to his goals and decisions!. It was the concept of attempting to destroy one group only and the overwhelming evidence which drew action to the table against the Germanic Ruler!.

also, with Soviet Union involvment in capturing Berlin and numerous other areas, they were considered part of the Allied forces and the struggle to undermine the opposing Germans!. In this context they are favoured as being on the "good" side of world war II!. There is also countless primary sources, exposing the concentration camps, eye witness testimonies and official records - whereas Joseph's actions weren't so well accounted for!.

Generally though, as you said, they are just as tyranic as eachother!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hitler used all technology modernity has to offer (trains, logistics, factories, chemicals, etc!.) to systematically exterminate people!. He was not crazy, he was in fact very intelligent, and knew exactly how to manipulate the people, and made his 'project' one of the most succesfull of the Modern era!.

Hitler has shown us the other side of modernity!. All great inventions and new technology can indeed also be used for evil purposes, Hitler has shown us that!.

The fact that Hitler was no mad man, but in fact very intelligent and civilised, and the fact that he was very rational about his ideas (all criteria which we normally admire, which we have longed for even since the 12th century), scares us!. It shows us that something like the Shoah could happen any time again!.

Very generally speaking, Stalin was a madman, but Hitler was not, which makes him very very dangerous!. That's why he is the bad guy!.

Hope this helped!.!.

ps: read Bauman's book on modernity, it's very interesting and talks abotu this in specific!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I feel this question will be different if you lived in Germany or if you lived in Russia today,

However,

If History is correct both Starlin and Hitler were both seen as to be "Bad Guys"!. The fact is the "Starlin's deaths" can mostly be attributed to poor running of the country during his time as ruler, and it is much easier to say that these deaths were accidental, if it were not for the poor conditions in Russia, not only economically but social and climate were all factors that people had to compete with during this time!. A HUGE COVER UP!

On the other hand Hitler is much more publicized because of the number of Jews, Gays, Gypsies and other racially motivated killings that took place for no other reason but Hitler thought that they were the route of all evil and corruption!. The concentration camps, secrecy and just down right deceit that Hitler conveyed to his people that the Jews were just being moved to the east and would be fine, means he is seen in an even darker light!. also with the Berlin Olympics Hitler managed to hide the fact that Jews were being killed, which added more hatred towards Hitler because he was flaunting his country all over the world when these terrible events were occurring!. It is all just a matter of popularity, Hitler is more remembered by the public weather the facts that they know are true or not, it is just a matter of public perception and many generations have grown up knowing that Hitler is evil and knowing nothing about Starlin!. Its just the way it is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i believe this has much to do with the jews and the Holocaust!. the allies fought in europe and saw first hand what the hitler and nazis did!. we saw the films of concentration camps, starving people and the ovens!. not so with stalin who had ordered the massacre of millions of his own countrymen!. no troops were there to film starvation misery and dead bodies of the russian people!. the fact that hitler got more coverage than stalin makes him the bad guy, stalin's atrocities were not made public until after the war!. Roosevelt!. Churchill and Stalin met in yalta as an alliance against hitler!. stalin fought on germany's
eastern front and the allies from the atlantic ocean towards germany on the western front!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, like who, dude!?

EDIT;
STALIN'S death toll was a round 20 million HOWEVER
I think it must be made clear that there is a vast difference between the number of people Stalin himself killed in purges and the amount of people that died of neglect and poor conditions in his horrendous network of labor camps which stretched across all of the USSR's 12 time zones, which covers half that number!.
And this was done over a much, much longer time period!.

HITLER on the other hand, wiped out 11 million in a matter of a few years!. If he had not been stopped, Hitler would have made Stalin look like a candyass!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why do you assume that Stalin isn't/wasn't reviled as the leader of a murderous regime!? There are many thousands of published accounts and articles – some of them factual, some pure fiction (propaganda) – all it takes is a few minutes research!. Over 20,000 hits on google books
http://books!.google!.com/books!?q=stalin&b!.!.!.

And, talking of research, try looking into the relationship between Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin – buddies doesn't describe it, as the Chinese/Arab proverb has it “the enemy of my enemy…etc!.”
The relationship between the Big Three was hampered by Stalin's belief that the USSR was being used by the other Allies to destroy the Axis forces while the US and British delayed the Second Front, that belief was founded on the pre-war antagonism against the Russian Revolution!. This belief was summed up by Stalin as “England provided the time, America provided the money, and Russia provided the blood”!. Churchill's relationship with Stalin was better than that of Chamberlain who Stalin regarded as trying to place Soviet and Nazi forces in opposition, following the appeasement over Czechoslovakia, however, remarking on the difference between Roosevelt and Churchill, Stalin said 'whilst both needed watching, Roosevelt would take a rouble out of your pocket, whereas Churchill would even take a kopek'!. From the other side while Roosevelt was inclined to trust Stalin to keep his word, Churchill was not and had called the “foul baboonery of Bolshevism…a pestilence more destructive of life than the Black Death or the Spotted Typhus”!.

Unlike the simplistic world of movies, there can be more than one guy in a black hat!. And in Realpolitik the guy in the black hat who is prepared/forced to lose millions of his population to fight the other black hat while your population stays alive is the good guy!. (I can make this simpler for the hard of thinking)
