Question: Question about the ancient civilizations plz hhellp!?
does anyone know why places such as ancient mesopotamia/egypt had such fertile soil!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mesopotamia: it was in between the tigris and euphrates rivers, which flooded once a year!.

Egypt: the nile river runs straight through it, which flooded once every july!.

both of these caused the soil to be covered by silt and soil from the river, causing it to become very fertleWww@QuestionHome@Com

Usually fertile soil forms as a result of sedimentation along river banks and river deltas!. Since the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in ancient Mesopotamia (now Iraq) and the Nile in ancient Egypt were some of the oldest rivers around the ancient populated ares, settlements started to form and cities started to be built eventually leading to many civilizations in those areas!. This happened thousands of years before other remote areas received any human population due to lack of fresh water and hence vegetation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The location of egypt and surrounding areas have many nutrients in the soil due to the location!. Since the nile river runs north, polar energy attracts water (which is full of nutrients) from the nile river into the surrounding soil (especially in floods because the ground near the river is low to sea level, so it really floods tremendously when a storm brews)!. Water soaking into the soil makes the soil rich with nutrients!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It has to do with climate and humidity I guess

Around that general area there are seasonal rains which are fairly heavy (some even cause floods)!.

So the water would make the land fertile and rich!.!.!.

Oh!.!.and as for Egypt, even though the majority of it is desert, the land around the Nile River in particular is very fertile and excellent for farming!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

egypt was fertile strictly due to the nile river flooding yearly!. when it receded it left silt which is loaded with organic matter and minerals which made the surrounding areas very fertile!.
during years of drought starvation was rampant not just in egypt but also in the countries around egypt that they traded with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because most ancient civilizations began in river valleys- like Mesopotamia on the Tigris and Euphrates and Egypt on the Nile!. Hope this helped!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well the Nile would occasionally flood its banks and enrich all the surrounding soil!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Becuse There was lots of water near the rivers and the rivers overflooded!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
