The original story, "First Impressions", was written between 1796 and 1797, but Jane Austen revised it before it was published in early 1813!. The English Regency period was from 1811-1820, so it was probably set during those very late years of the 18th century/early years of the 19th century and very beginning of the Regency!. ("Sense and Sensibility" was published in 1811!.) The Prince Regent himself was an admirer of Jane Austen's!.

Pride and Prejudice was published in 1813!. Jane Austen had written an earlier version of the story, entitled First Impressions, at a much earlier date, but she revised and rewrote it extensively before it was published!. It appears to be set in the time at which it was published!.

Jane Austen died in 1817, so none of her books were set in the 1820s or 1830s (as a comment above suggests)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pride and Prejudice is set in the Regency period, or at least, at the very end of it, around the late 1820s to early 1830s!. The costums in the televised versions of P&P always look a bit Beau Brummel and Regency in their style!.
