She was the head of the Church of England, and she did have Puritans in her Council, but didn't care for their views on the future of the Church!. She also didn't like to be lectured to on the subject, as I gather!.

She was a Protestant, and she sent assistance to the Dutch Protestants fighting the Spanish!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Elizabeth I established the Church of England as the official religion of England, with herself as Supreme Governor!. Although she was a Protestant, she said at the beginning of her reing that she did not intend to make "windows into men's souls" in other words she was prepared to allow a certain amount of limited religious tolerance, so long as people paid lip service to the Church of England, they might believe what they liked (most of the population of England was still Catholic at the time of her accession)!.

She did not care for the views of extremist Protestants, like the Puritans for instance!. However, her attiude towards Catholics hardened later in her reign, when the Pope excommunicated her, and declared that it was not a sin to murder to her!. This understandably annoyed her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

William is correct!. Elizabeth was a Protestant and helped to establish the Church of England, with herself as head!. She hated Catholics and had her Catholic cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, beheaded, as they were rivals for the throne of England!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
