Question: Ned Kelly: Hero or Villain!?

I have to do an essay for school, and I'm completely stuck on what to say!. I think he's more of a villain (because of the murders & stealing) but other things suggest he was a hero!.
So do you think he was a hero or villain!? And why!?
The essay needs to be pretty long, so I need all the help I can get, not just a page long of info about him!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ned Kelly is generally considered a villain, but in other cases people would consider him a hero, it just depends on what perspective you take!.

I'd say he is looked upon in a heroic way for fighting the justice system and showing courage, strength and a ability to resist laws through making his own lifestyle, with separate beliefs, attitudes and values!. Being one of the most successful outlaws in Australian history, he stands out easily and is the type of character Australians of modern-day society can relate to in some form!. For example he defied what was right and certain, common ideologies people had - similar to the way some of us act today, wanting to alter others thoughts and rebel against things we don't agree with, it's just in a different context!.

On the flip-side, the police saw him as a dangerous individual, especially when combined with his gang, who looted banks, intercepted trade goods on their transportation routes and killed numerous people with little reasoning!. Ned was a wanted criminal and there was a large sum of money put out as a bounty!. Authorities despised him for the havoc he caused constantly, without regard or regret!. When he was young he assaulted a Chinese immigrant, his first jailing!. His final offence would be the murder of a police officer in a gun battle, which resulted in his hanging, 11 November 1880!.
