I am also fascinated by J!.P!. Morgan and have read quite a bit about him!. There is almost nothing on the Youtube page about J!.P!. Morgan!.

First, read these two excellent biographies:

1) 'MORGAN: American Financier' (c!. 2000) by Jean Strouse!.

2!.) 'THE HOUSE OF MORGAN: An American Banking Dynasty and the Rise of Modern Finance' (c!. 2001) by Ron Chernow

After reading these two books and several other sources on the life of J!.P!. Morgan I was immediately struck that J!.P!. Morgan was groomed by his father for a life of finance!. His father from London controlled the life of the young J!.P!. Morgan almost up to the time of his father's death!.

His father sent the very young 10-12 year old J!.P!. to work in a bank for nothing (intern!?) for several years!. Then the father sent the late teen Morgan to Germany to learn German, then to France to learn French, two of the most important languages in the 19th century business world!. While in Germany the University of Berlin offered J!.P!. Morgan a mathematics scholarship; it seems J!.P!. Morgan had a gift for math!. Then his father sent J!.P!. Morgan to Harvard University for his formal education!.

The old man hated speculation and forbade his son to get involved in the stock market!. So J!.P!. Morgan as a young man in his twenties worked at dozens of different jobs in various New York City banks!. J!.P!. Morgan did not want to work at the financial centers of Boston since he felt the Boston yankees were all a bunch of prudes!

But J!.P!. Morgan broke away from his father on several occasions!. J!.P!. Morgan specualted on rifles and made a small fortune during the American Civil War!. Then again J!.P!. Morgan did something totally unprecedented and in 1871 made a large loan to France for her upcoming war with Germany!. This kind of loan was strictly in the realm of the Rothchilds, and J!.P!. Morgan took a huge risk, but put his name on the map with this one single loan!. Even though France lost the war, she still repaid her loan and the interest made J!.P!. Morgan rich for the first time (He earned his money all by himself)!.

With this single event of the successful venture 1871 loan to France, J!.P!. Morgan began his bulldozer career as a heavy hitter, making all sorts of deals and specualtions with U!.S!. railroads, steel industries, oil industries, and several innovative technologies (J!.P!. Morgan discovered and financed Thomas Edison and his lightbulb then J!.P!. Morgan organized G!.E!. General Electric)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
