Question: Information on nazi car tag!?
I have a metal car tag that was taken out of a mans house that fought in ww2!. He was one of the first people over there when they discovered concentration camps and when he died many of his belongings went into the museum but when we did his estate sale something slipped by them!. It is a metal plate that said Der Deutche Grukt maybe!? I can't really read the 'k' looking letter but then it sais Heil Hitler with 2 nazi flags crossing the top!. Where could I find more information on this thing!? Has anyone ever seen anything like it!? On the note it said something about how it was attached to the back of the nazi vehicles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Most official nazi tags were a prefix of two letters followed by a number:
Examples:
Tags with the prefix IA and a series of numbers were official government vehicles (customs, police, Gestapo)!.
prefix WH and numbers meant property of the German Army
WL was for the Luftwaffe or German airforce
KM was Marine or Navy
SS was for vehicles which were property of the Waffen-SS
What you are describing is some kind of sign!. But that is without seeing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
