These laws are interesting if you have the time to glance through!. There is a great deal of death and dismemberment in it for infractions as I recall, but nothing pertaining to democracy!.

Be sure to include the evolving Roman state in your timeline!. They kicked out their last king in ~ 509 or 510 BC!. (I think that was Tarquinius Superbus!.) So the Romans were moving from absolute rulers to a representative government at about the same time as Pericles and the Greeks!. Both cultures were wise to eliminate dictators!.
