Question: Why Joan of Arc has been burned at the stake!?
During the Hundred Years War between France and United Kingdom, Joan of Arc just a young lady, she maybe 17 or 19 at her age!.
But at the end, the Englishmen deemed that she was a witch and burned her at the stake…

In my opinion, during that time, the Englishmen were really superstition guys, don’t they!?
What do you think about this event!?
Incidentally, the Hundred Years War began and ends at which two years!?

Joan of Arc was a great inspiration to French!. They were losing, they were tired, but Joan of Arc gave inspiration & a sense of national identity which eventually led to their victory/liberation of Orleans!.

Because the English wanted to discredit her publicly, they announced her as a heretic!. (some of the points used against her was that she went against God's natural order by wearing men's clothes!. also because she claimed she could hears saints and that they talked to her, which was blasphemous during that time since only the pope was holy therefore could only communicate with God!.)
Superstition was a tiny tiny part of it!. As in, it was used to make people think she was a heretic, but the people who deemed her as one did not do so because they actually thought her as one, they just really wanted to bring her down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The whole trial was a fix from the beginning, but although Joan was burned at the stake it was not because of witchcraft but because of heresy!. Rather than superstition it was astute politics to rid themselves of a successful figurehead by buying her from the Burgundians, setting up a showtrial presided over by a judge who was briefed to find her guilty, altering court records and executing her!.

It was entirely politically-motivated, by condemning her for heresy the legitimacy of the coronation of Charles VII was also called into question (as it and Joan's ability to command had been sanctioned by the Pope) enabling the English to claim the throne for Henry VI!.

Witchcraft was rarely punished by burning at the stake in Britain/England, fewer than 20% of trials resulted in conviction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
