In 1776, while a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, Thomas Jefferson rented two upstairs rooms in the modest house of bricklayer Jacob Graff!. There, on his lap desk, Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence!.
The Graff House stood on the corner of Market & 7th Streets!. Jefferson rented there because it was then on the edge of town, and quieter!. The Graff House was reconstructed in 1975 as part of Independence National Historical Park!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was signed in Philly, but it was actually drafted in Virginia!. It was written in the home of Thomas Jefferson, at his home, Monticello, near Charlottesville!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
