Persia was just the ancient name of the region where modernly it is called Iran!. The name "Persia" comes from the Greeks whilst the people who live in the Persian area actually referred to themselves as Iranians and their land as Iran!.

It was officialy called Iran in 1935 by the Iran (Persian) govt!. and it was chnged to be able to be reffered to both in 1949!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it was after the Shah of Persia was exiled!. It is such a shame because Persia brings to mind a beautiful exotic opulent country where fairy tales originated!. I am not Iranian or Persian but somehow it holds a place in my heart!.I doubt if its name will ever be reverted not the way current affairs are!. I remember the magnificence of Persepolis!.!.!.!.the show that the Shah of Persia put on for the rest of the world!. The film "Caesar and Cleopatra" was nothing in comparison!.!.!.it was so beautiful and I doubt if we shall ever see anything so magnificent again in our lifetime!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
