Question: How did the people on 17th century voyages to america eat!? Please!!?
Ok, well i'm writing a story for social studies, and my character has to go from england to The 13 colonies on ship (Duh!)!. And well i can't really find any information on how the voyages were!. So can anyone give me some info please! I especially want to know how they ate, like was it like a cafeteria sort of thing or what!? Cuz i reallly have no idea! And if you have any other info on how the voyages were, then please tell me!. Like also about room acomadations, i mean i know it wasn't a big fancy cruise ship, but they had to sleep somewhere right!?
Well please just give me any info on the voyages! Thanks in advance! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

On the ship they would've eaten basically the same diet as soldiers of the time: a lot of salted meat and hardtack (basically dehydrated bread!.) They would've drank a limited supply of fresh water and a much greater portion of beer!. They probably would've taken their meals on the deck or in the below-decks common areas!. These would've borne little resemblance to modern cafeterias, with the possible exception of having a communal table!. Ships of the time would've been extremely cramped, both in eating and sleeping quarters!. Additionally, scurvy hadn't yet been discovered, and the close quarters would've been an incredible vector for the various diseases of the time!.
Basically, the ships of the time were cramped, dark, and miserable, and the people would've been on the edge of starvation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
