Unlike slavery in other times and places (in Rome, for instance, some slaves worked in intellectual jobs and even in government), in the Americas slaves were used only for low-level labouring jobs!. Anything for which no, or low-level, skill was needed could be slave work!. Slaves worked on farms, they did domestic work, they cleaned the streets, they drove carts !.!.!.!.!.!. and so on!. A by-product of this, as of other slave economies, was the depression of the indigenous working-class!. Where slaves are cheap and easily come by there is little well-paid work for the labouring poor - hence the problem of the poor whites in the American deep south, whose effects are still around today!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Lief Ericsson had a slave (white guy from Germany) who accompanied him!.
