Question: Why do Armenians insist Turkey commited the Genocide!?
I don't mean to be racist or anything, I am just curious why Armenians believe it was Turkey who killed their people!. The Genocide happened around 1915, and Turkey didn't exist prior to 1922!. The Ottomans killed the Armenians, not the Turks!. Yes, Turkey was the center of the Ottoman empire, but modern Turkey is not the same government as the Ottoman Empire!. Why don't all the various peoples who suffered under the Roman Empire starting telling Italy to fess up to it!? The whole Armenian argument is ridiculous in my opinion!. Again, I don't mean to be disrespectful!. Please don't start calling me a racist, hater, etc!. I'm not!. If any Armenians (or anyone else) can inform me on this matter, that would be great!. Thanks guys!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The explanation 'the Ottomans did it, not the Turks' is the same as saying 'the Nazis did it, not the Germans!.' But, in both cases, the people carrying out the genocide are the ancestors of modern-day people !.!.!.in Turkey and Germany, respectively!.

And I don't agree that it's the same as Italians and Romans, because the Italians TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for what the Romans did - the atrocities of the Romans are not hidden, they're right in the history books written by the Romans themselves!. (eg!., The phrase 'The Romans make a dessert and call it peace', was said by a British rebel, noted in a biography of Agrippa!.) I'm sure the modern Iranians similarly take responsibility for what Xerxes the Great might have done!.
The Germans also take responsibility!.!.!.Get my drift here!? We just need one more country to join the club!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Ottoman Empire was in a state of decline from the start of the 20th century!. The architects of the genocide were Turks, the perpetrators were, mainly, Turks!. It is wrong to assume that the dissolution of the empire automatically grants amnesty!.

Present-day Turkey does admit that the deaths took place, it does not admit that it was a programme of planned killing, many other nations have examined it and decided that it was a genocide in the terms of International Law it is this which infuriates the survivors and their relatives!. In Turkey it is against the law to even raise the question of genocide "insulting Turkishness"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've spoken with a representative of of Turkey who works for the UN, she, albeit from a distance, admitted that there was a mass murder of Armenian people by what was largely described as soon to be Turks!. She of course did not use the word genocide, but it has been documented that the mass murder of civilians happened!. I don't think you're a 'hater' or a racist, but when a government representative of the country dances around a topic like that it means something is not right!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because without the Turks there would have been no Ottoman Empire!. and modern Turkey is the inheritor of the remains of that power!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
