Question: Southwest Involvement in the Civil War!?
What involvement did the American Southwest (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas!.!.!.) have in the American Civil War!? Were there any important battles in that theatre!? Did the big battle near the end of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" actually happen or was just made up for effect!? The Battle of Glorieta (North of Santa Fe) has been called the Gettysburg's of The West!. also see Val Verde, Chivington MAJ Colo!. militia(same bastard of later Sand Creek massacre), Chaves CPT NM militia, Sibley's NM campaign, Sibley GEN CSA, Evans GOV Colo!., Forts Craig and Union!.

Battle of Peralta (also part of Sibley's NM campain) is depicted in GB&U!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What I know is this, there was a civil war battle around Picarro Peak,which is about 20 minutes away Northwest from Tucson on Interstate-10 nowadays!. That was by far the most western battle of the civil war! I think there were a few skirmishes in what is now the state of New Mexico also,most notably the battle of Taos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
