The Tory political party was the leading/ruling party before and during the American Revolution!. They were for imposing their will on the American colonies!.
American patriots fought against the British, or supported the effort for Independence!.
Loyalist were those who remained loyal to the British government, and were often called Tories, regardless of their own political party!.
All Tories were Loyalist, but not all Loyalist were actually Tory, but were often called that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
