Question: What might people gain for having a ruler whose power is total, or absolute!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Security- to be free of political upheaval and frequent changes in leadership!.

National pride- to take over other nations, to re-claim some lost pride- think Hitler!.

In a time of chaos, absolutism/totalitarianism doesn't look so bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One thing that people would lose is legislative gridlock!. You know how it takes so long to get laws passed because everyone bickers over them!? Since everyone's voice is heard, it takes a really long time to get stuff done!. With a leader with absolute power, decisions are made quickly!. The problem is, you lose representation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on the ruler being benevolent or a sociopath, they may have a wonderful life or a life of horror and fear!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
